Snow Day

Snow day, snow day, we have a snow day! My first of the year. I was to have taught in a severe needs (SSN) special ed (SPED) high school classroom today, but I'm home on a snow day.

Tonight I have a Pampered Chef show I hope doesn't cancel. My friend, the host, and I are waiting to see what the roads are like in a few hours and make the call then. The main roads should be just fine and the show should hold, but we'll see.

Today will be a homework day, I have some writing to revise for my "reading, writing connections" class.  A narrative piece, a descriptive piece and a persuasive piece all are drafted but need revising before I pick which two will be submitted into a "final portfolio" next week when the class ends.

Random thoughts on subbing

Last week I taught a full week in Second grade. By day 3 I feel less like the sub and more like the teacher. It was interesting as I'd not subbed a full week before.  I think two weeks would be better for a feel for the classroom teacher's position.  I was just getting to know the kids and working with the class schedule and boom, it was over.

That said, I also realized how much I love subbing. The flexibility is great and so working with many different students and staff.

Long Time No Blog

Getting over some writer's block is no fun.  I have schoolwork today for my Masters Program in Reading and have been having horrible writers block.

After a couple of weeks with being so busy I hardly had time to breathe between activities, it's time to get back to writing and school assignments.
